Forget about that dramatic cooking show you have been watching before. Here is all about real baking and trust me; if you are passionate about baking, you are in the right place. That said every time I of this show, I can’t stop thinking about some of what I like to call incredible recipes.
Here are some mind-blowing and inspiring British baking show recipes that you may what to try.
1. Marjolaine is of the Great British Baking Show Recipes
When you are thinking about an ideal cake for a birthday party, then Marjolaine will probably top your cake’s list. This cake combines layers of praline buttercream, chocolate ganache, and meringue.
This dessert was featured in the seventh episode of season 4. You can have a glimpse to get the exact portions of the ingredients needed for its preparation.
However, for a perfect Marjolaine that a whole family can enjoy, you need to equip yourself with the following:
- 2 12 by 8 inches Swiss roll tins.
- Piping bag with a small star nozzle.
- Food processor.
- Freestanding electric mixer with a whisk attachment.
However, if you are allergic to eggs, then this cake may not be suitable for you as you need raw egg yolks for preparing the French buttercream. The chefs haven’t yet given an alternative for the people who don’t eat eggs.
2. English Trifle
English Trifle is a favorite to many thanks to its massiveness and the tons of layers of flavor that comes with it. You can prepare this cake any time of year.
I like sherry in my dessert and am disappointed with the fact that they do not include it in this recipe. However, this does not spoil the party. I simply soak the trifle in a slash of sherry before assembling it. If you like a thrilling taste of delicious flavors, then you should try a traditional English Trifle.
3. Fougasse
When you think of a side dish that is perfect for feeding a family or as comfort food, then Fougasse comes in handy. This snack suite mostly for Christmas and Easter occasions, more so when you have visitors coming by.
I don’t know about you, but I like my Fougasse a saltier with marinated herby taste. Forgive me for forgetting to tell you that a bowl of dips will do you justice while eating these excellent snacks. This bread is French cuisine.
4. Flaounes
To add on, you can’t talk about British and Greek cuisines without a mention of Flauones. Most of the pastry chefs will agree with me when I say that Flauones are ideal for breakfast, dessert, and brunch courses. Like Fougasse, it suits occasions where you have a crowd to feed.
Easter and Christmas are a perfect example in case you forgot. The British and Greek mostly bake flaounes during Easter celebrations. The savory and goodness of cheese plus a touch of special spices like mahaleb, commonly used in Greek, makes flaounes different from an average Easter bake.
5. Charlotte Royale
Charlotte Royale is a dessert. It’s ideal for birthday parties, New Year’s Eve celebrations, and general parties. I think this cake will perfectly fit as a surprise to family and friends during someone’s birthday party next year. Fingers crossed that they don’t come across this article. This cake can be served hot or cold.
The fruit puree gives this cake that fruity taste. Trust me; a bite will take you to an imaginary world thanks to the sweetness. Charlotte Royale is featured in the French Week episode of season two of The British Baking Show.
6. Millionaires Shortbread
Millionaires Shortbread makes it onto our list. I assume the shortbread got its name from the fanciness that comes from having a bite of chocolate. This reminds me of my first bite of chocolate that fresh and relaxing feeling.
Speaking of freshness and relaxation, a bite of millionaires shortbread in the morning as breakfast for it makes me feel like a one, a millionaire less you forget. This motivates me for the rest of the day.
I also like to try it when I am just relaxed. If you have issues with sugar, you can avoid this recipe. Chocolates are usually sugary. Try this recipe, and it will not disappoint you.
7. Ciabatta
Ciabatta is not common bread. This Italian cuisine will make you change your mind about the bread once you try it. You need 20 minutes to prepare and another 20 minutes to bake it. Ciabatta is an old cuisine, and you can easily access this recipe online.
The main difference between Ciabatta and the normal brand is on the crumb. While crumbs on the normal bread are open, we have incredibly open crumbs on Ciabatta. What I like the most about this Italian bread is the taste of olive oil. I don’t know why I am obsessed with olive oil.
8. Bakewell Slice
Featured in the technical challenge on the show, Bakewell sums up our list. This English confection is closely associated with Bakewell, a town in Derbyshire. If you want a recipe that challenges you, then look no further.
This British cuisine combines jam, short-crust pastry, almond frangipane, and a touch of icing. You are definitely salivating over this sweet and buttery dessert. Is that not reason enough for you to try this recipe?
I recommend you trying the raspberry Bakewell slice. You’ll be sure to thank me later for the same.

These recipes are quick to prepare, and you can diversify your cooking skills by having a glimpse of this beautiful show as you receive informative, rich information on British culture. I like trying different recipes and cuisines. What do you like?
